"I'm off to charge my basses..."

So… We (Torque) played The Flag in Watford on Saturday. It was an awesome night! We decided that we were going to play a seven song set: Fooling No-One, The End, Twisted in Love, Drowning (acoustic), Save Yourself, Breathing Underwater and Higher.

It didn’t quite work out exactly to plan, the band that were on before us ran over by about ten minutes so after Save Yourself we were told that we had drop a song. I had to stop playing the intro to Breathing Underwater, swap my bass and get ready for Higher. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement; BUW is my favorite track to perform. Oh well…On the plus side though: While Gary and Mike were playing Drowning we were offered a slot at the Twisted promotions anniversary night in September!

Let’s look at that again:
We were offered another show three songs into our set.

I think that’s pretty impressive!

I’m still not happy though, I can play all of the songs flawlessly in rehearsal but I’m yet to have a perfect gig. Maybe my expectations of myself are too high?

I bought some bits off eBay last month to play about with; two effect-pedals (Distortion and Chorus) and a bunch of glow in the dark fret markers. Admittedly the latter sounds very gay, but they look great!

The air conditioner at work is working overtime and it’s given me a cold.I’m irritated to hell, I can’t sleep very well because I have one nostril blocked I have to lie facing the other way so I don’t drown on snot.
I went to the toilet at work this morning to get a bunch of tissue so if I were sneeze during the day I could quickly grab some instead of having messy hands. It sounds foul… And it is. But I realised on the way back that because I had a handful of tissue it looked like I was going off to have a wank somewhere.

I hate having a cold, it makes my arm crusty.

I found something pretty cool yesterday, I’ve had the LastFM scribbler thing collecting all the songs I’ve listened to since July 2006. but what I didn’t know is that LastFM compiles a radio station of my favorite music for you to listen to whenever you want. Check it out here:

It plays really random stuff now and again. Well: it’s not entirely random; it’s all stuff I’ve listened to in the past few years but it has set my mood for what I want to listen to the past two days.

Mission impossible? I fucking hope not
I’m trying to lose weight again. I had a look at all of the photos from the Flag gig and I look like a fat mong in some of them. This isn’t good in any way. I’ve been pretty good this week so far. Let’s hope I can keep it up because I’ve got a good few reasons to get back in shape.

It was my Birthday last Monday, it was OK. I mean… The actual stuff we did during the day was fantastic but my Great Aunt died. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it, of course I’m sad. But she was obviously in a lot of pain for a long time. I’m glad she doesn’t have to go through that suffering anymore. I am really going to miss her.

We went to the Bodyworlds exhibition at the o2 (millennium dome) and it was incredible. We went to the last exhibition when it was at Brick Lane. This one was a lot better than the last. From what I remember it made sense but was looking more for the shock value than anything. What with the Live Autopsy being screened on TV not long after…
I think everyone seems to have accepted it all a bit more now. It was very informative and it really makes you think about yourself and your body.

They had a plastinated giraffe too! That thing was just amazing.
